Manchester United 5 - 0 Wigan
Five amazing goals gave Manchester United their second win of the season at the JJB Stadium, two from Wayne Rooney, one from Dimitar Berbatov, one from Michael Owen, and one from a Nani free kick. United dominated the 1st half of the match, but Chris Kirkland kept the score at 0-0 for Wigan. After half time though, it was a completely different story. Wayne Rooney showed us that he is still world class with a fantastic header, but also still extremely cheeky by trying to just knock into the back of the net, and, because it’s him, it caught a tiny deflection and went in. Dimitar Berbatov showed that while he may always look like he’s half asleep he’s really just a viper waiting to strike with his first goal of the season and a hanful of shots. Then Wayne Rooney’s sub Michael Owen made it four showing that he is still as dangerous as he was when he came on against Argentina for England in 1998 and scored the goal that turned the game on it’s head. And then an exquisite free kick in extra time wrapped up the scoring for United to make it 5. But who scored it? Well since Ronaldo left critics have been saying that we won’t survive without him and United are going nowhere, but with his 91st minute free kick Nani silenced those critics and showed that he’s not just another Portugese show off, but actual talent that could be turned into true threat in the next couple of years, a good thing for Manchester United.
