Premier League Action Saturday

What a day for the beautiful game.

Results:

Manchester United 2 - 1 Arsenal

My man of the match for this game is a draw between Darren Fletcher and Nemanja Vidic. Fletcher because he was everywhere when he was needed, defending, shooting, everything. Vidic because he was solid in defence, next to Brown who kept giving the ball away, and his heading was out of this world. And I have to say thank you to Abu Diaby, brilliant header.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 1 Birmingham

Chelsea 3 - 0 Burnley

Liverpool 3 - 2 Bolton

Stoke 1 - 0 Sunderland

Wolverhampton Wnaderers 1 - 1 Hull

Blackburn Rovers 0 - 0 West Ham

All in all a brilliant day of football in England, but I have some complaints, all focused on the United vs. Arsenal match. First the commentators. I don’t know their names, but they always comentate on the big English matches(not Any Gray and Martin Tyler) and today was no exception. Well from what I know of them they were both defenders, so where do they get off saying Foster isn’t doing his job or United isn’t passing well enough or up to their usual standards? Did they ever play for United? I doubt it since I’ve never heard of them. And how can they comment on how to be a goalkeeper? True the passing wasn’t brilliant, but it wasn’t awful. Second, the commentators. Another thing that the two commentators, and Nick Webster if you watched Fox Soccer Channel, kept saying was Arsenal dominated the match, Arsenal will win, Arsenal were robbed. Jesus Christ, I thought commentators were supposed to be unbiased, but obviously not. Now my view of what happened is that Arsenal did well and deserved to be 1 - 0 up through a fantastic bit of play from Andry Arshavin. After that though, Arsenal looked a bit flat, the odd chance, and they were good chances, but very flat. United didn’t look their best in the first half, but they certainly weren’t “run off the park” as Nick Webster said. The possession difference was something like 63% to 37%, so how was that domination? The shot difference was 9 to 8 in United’s favour and on target was 6 - 3 in United’s favour, again I ask you domination? Third complaint, the 4th official. I agree Arsene Wenger is an arrogant git, but being sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle after your team has just had a goal disallowed for offside(which was the right decision)was a bit petty, but, although I don’t like Wenger, it was very ballsy and very funny when he went towards the stands and stood above the tunnel because he couldn’t go any further and held his hands up as if to say “Vat? I cannot go anyver. Vat do you vant me to do?” (He’s French, that’s my typing French accent). All in all, very entertaining, yet very annoying when you have biased commentators and petty 4th officials, but I will give credit to Mike Dean the referee, he kept his cool and kept everyone in line by not being afraid of showing a card.
