Wow a lot of football to get through, starting with the last match from last Saturday where Arsenal just won by getting a lucky goal from Van Persie against a Fulham side that should definitely have won. Then on Sunday Sunderland emphatically beat newcomers Wolverhamptons 5-2. On Monday Manchester City saw off an in form West Ham at Eastlands 3-1.
Tuesday Champions League:
Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos
It looks as though Arsenal have recovered from their defeat to United at Old Trafford because they are back into some sort of form at the moment. Won’t be long until it flitters out.
AZ Alkmaar 1-1 Standar Liege
Barcelona 2-0 Dynamo Kiev
Debrecen 0-4 Lyon
Fiorentina 2-0 Liverpool
Liverpool were wll and truly humbled in this match in Italy by a much superior Fiorentina side.
Rangers 1-4 Sevilla
Rubin Kazan 1-1 Inter Milan
I have one thing to say to this: Who?
Unirea Urziceni 1-1 VFB Stuttgart
My German side was unfortunately held to a draw even though they went 1-0 up early on.
A little extra result my hometown Bury FC saw off Crewe 3-2 in League 2:)
Wednesday Champions League
Manchester United 2-1 Wolfsburg
After going 1-0 down in the first half, United came shooting out into the second half and brought themselves back into it with two fantastic goals and a bit of brilliance from the Welsh Wizard himself.
AC Milan 0-1 FC Zurich
Once again: Who? Since when do the Swiss champions beat anyone from Italy? But on saying that, good on them. Maybe Swiss football is better than people give them credit for.
Apoel 0-1 Chelsea
Lackluster and lucky is all I can say for Chelsea.
Bayern Munich 0-0 Juventus
One of the most exciting goalless draws I’ve ever seen before.
Bordeaux 1-0 Maccabi Haifa
CSKA Moscow 2-1 Besiktas
Where are the Russian teams coming from all of a sudden?
FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid
Real Madrid 3-0 Marseille
Christiano who?
Saturday(today) football
Manchester United 2-2 Sunderland
A very lackluster performance all round. Most people would say something about referees and linesmen and whatever but, even though I think Alan Wiley needs to get his eyes checked since United should have had 2 penalties at least, the players were the main culprits. Scholes couldn’t pass, Fletcher couldn’t tackle, Anderson made things worse, Evans couldn’t defend if it was an ant that was trying to get past him, Foster was being Foster(although he is a good keeper, just needs a bit of development), Welbeck did alright but really he’s younger than I am and he needs a bit more training and development before he starts in an important match(even if it was against Sunderland), and Rooney was all over the place he wasn’t shooting at the right time he was defending for most of the match he was all over the place. The best players for United were Berbatov, Vidic, and Nani, and when Nani is added in that category you know it was bad. Sunderland were the better team today, United deserved no more than a draw, especially because Sunderland played like a team not the 3 teammates and 8 individuals that made up United.
Bolton 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
What’s going on with Spurs at the minute? Well done Wanderers though, it looks like they are going back to playing like they did under Sam Allardyce.
Burnley 2-1 Birmingham
Hull 2-1 Wigan
Wigan beat Chelsea, played in the UEFA Cup midweek, and then lose to….Hull? That’s a very weird week. HULL? Seriously? HULL?
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-1 Portsmouth
Pompey won a match!!!!! At last, 7 matches, 7 losses, and then finally the 8th is a win. The main reason they haven’t been able to win is because they were pillaged by a lot of other teams for players so they were left with pretty much reserves and David James. Let’s hope that Pompey can bring it back again because they are one of those teams that belong in the Premier League.
All in all an exciting week for football, let’s hope next week is just as exciting.
